about our optometry practice

Smith Vision Center in El Dorado was founded in August 2011 by Christopher Smith O.D. with the purpose of providing professional and personable eye care to the people of Butler county. In January 2014 Smith Vision Center expanded to open an office in South Wichita based on the same core values and principles as the El Dorado office.

Dr. Smith was born in Parsons, Kansas where he graduated from Parsons High School. He then went on to attend undergraduate at Pittsburg State University and Southwest Missouri State University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science Degree in 2004. He then attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis TN where he graduated Cum Laude with a Doctorate of Optometry in 2008.

Dr. Smith is a member of the American Optometric Association, Kansas Optometric Association, and Wichita Optometric Society. He enjoys seeing patients of all ages with interests in pediatric eye care, contact lens fittings, treatment of ocular diseases, as well as general family eye care.

What sets Smith Vision Center apart from everyone else is that Dr. Smith spends time with his patients. Dr. Smith greets the patients in the waiting room, does all of their testing, goes over their diagnosis, and then involves the patient in the process of selecting the best corrective lenses for their condition. Dr. Smith prides himself on spending time with his patients and getting to know them so he can appropriately assess their visual needs.

Smith Vision Center is single doctor owned optometric practice with emphasis on high quality patient care and a family friendly atmosphere in the office. From the first day Dr. Smith opened the doors he has treated every patient like a member of his own family.

Smith Vision Center accepts most insurance plans including: Vision Service Plan, Kancare (Ocular Benefits, Sunflower, & United HealthCare), Medicare, Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Superior Vision, Eyemed, Preferred Plus of Kansas, NRECA, EyeMed, and many others.
